About Me

I am a licensed psychologist in my 26th year of practice in Maryland and certified to provide TelePsychology to more than 25 other states. I have served the community through therapy, assessment, workshops, parent training, and community education.  I have an eclectic clinical background and approach to working with clients, but favor Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which builds on Cognitive Behavior Therapy for therapeutic services.  Skill building is a critical component of my work. In addition to individual therapy with adults, I work most with couples, in session and at private retreats, using psycho-education and a variety of skill building exercises, with a goal of improving connectedness in the relationship.  I facilitate and co-facilitate theme-centered groups, addressing a variety of topics including those of special interest for women and couples.

I conduct skills trainings for parents, families, churches, and the community to support personal adjustment, workplace management, and understanding children with special needs. Parent training includes developing behavior management plans as warranted. I work with corporations to provide counseling, seminars, and evaluations to employees to help them identify ways to optimize their performance in the workplace.  I also work with social service agencies and attorneys in the interest of children and youth. Neuropsychological/psycho-social assessments are a significant part of the services I provide.  I also work with co-therapists and interns to deliver a variety of psychologically based services.  Mentoring young professionals is a highly valued part of my time.

I currently serve on the Ethics Committee of the Maryland Psychological Association.  I serve on the board of Autism FYI.org, a national registry that works to train first responders and other community organizations on ways to best support individuals with autism spectrum disorders in the community and in emergency situations.  I am past president for the Montgomery and Prince George’s County Psychological Association.

As a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, I trained with leading authorities in the field of developmental disabilities, particularly executive functioning.  While at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Center for Learning and Its Disorders, I collaborated with professionals from many disciplines.   For more than 12 years, in addition to my office practice, I provided behavior plans, assessment, therapeutic, and  clinical administrative services at the Harbour School at Annapolis, considered a premiere learning facility for children with special needs (including learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders) in Maryland. Certifications include Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) # 8338 granted by the PSYPACT Commission, effective 6/21/2021. While my primary practice is in Maryland, through the PSYPACT Commission authorization, I am certified to provide psychological services via Teletherapy in more than 25 states, including the District of Columbia and Virginia. See PSYPACT map for approved locations.

Outside of my work, I have a daily yoga practice. I most enjoy gardening, live music, travel, reading, family and friends, and bid whist.
